PRODUCTION PROCESS |
|
Plants in-vitro
propagation, which is generally called
tissue culture, holds a group of techniques
which have in common the necessity to work
in aseptic conditions and to grow, during a
variable length of time, pieces of vegetal
material on sterile media. In Al Wathba
Marionnet laboratory we use the Somatic
Embryogenesis technology. Production process
spans over three major phases; in vitro
propagation phase (laboratory),
acclimatization & hardening phase
(greenhouse) and growing and maturing phase
(nursery).

QUALITY FIRST |

|
|

Al Wathba Marionnet
dedicate itself on producing high quality
date palm trees. This shows clearly in its
strict and accurate production protocols and
procedures, which are kept updated with the
latest developments of tissue culture
technology. As part of its commitment in
ensuring the genetic constancy and
true-to-type state of the trees, Al Wathba
Marionnet attaches a great importance to
monitor their genetic stability all along
the in-vitro process through carrying out
genetic finger printing tests. These tests
are regularly carried out on random samples
of plants at several growth stages by the
G.E.V.E.S. "Group for Control and Survey of
Varieties and Seeds" which belongs to the
French Ministry of Agriculture. |

FIELD CONFIRMATION |
|
The best way to assess the reliability
of a technology is to perform plantations in
the field, in the same conditions as a real
grove, where the dates show up during the
season. A continuous follow up on the
morphology and fruit characteristics of our
plants during the first five years of
production is seriously ensured by several
independent official parties. These
independent parties vary from governmental
experimental stations to international
research centers all around the world.
