A continuous follow up on the morphology and
fruit characteristics of our plants during
the first five years of production is
seriously ensured by several independent
official parties. Here below are few
examples of our field references:
The best way to assess the reliability of a
technology is to perform plantations in the
field, in the same conditions as a real
grove, where the dates show up during the
season. The following Governmental
experimental stations are conducting such
tests with our plants:
Al Humraniyah Experimental Station, Ministry
of Agriculture, Ras Al Khaymah, UNITED ARAB
EMIRATES.
The
first plants were planted in the station in
1994 by batches of 5 plants per variety.
Since then, each new variety produced is
given in the same number. The Ministry’s
reports show that all plants have been
fruiting after 3 years and are all
true-to-type. As soon as our future
varieties will be available (Zamli, Ashal Al
Hassa), we will offer 5 of each to the
Ministry station for the same purpose.
N.D.C
(Namibian Development Corporation) through
F.A.O (Food and Agriculture Organization of
the United Nations), Windhoek, NAMIBIA
It is a very large scale experiment where
thousands of plants are planted for
commercial purposes along with quantities of
4 other Tissue Culture Date Palm sources.
Ours are by far the most successful as none
of them showed any sign of abnormality while
all the other laboratories have variable
quantities of plants that do not perform
well. Furthermore, fruiting was reached in
our plants in only two and half years while
the fruiting plants of the others needed at
least double time.
R.D.A.O
(Research & Development for the Agriculture
in Oases), DJIBOUTI
Our oldest trees are planted in this
Research center. It was in 1987. Our first
Medjool and Deglet Noor dates were harvested
in 1990.
I.C.B.A (International Center for
Biosaline Agriculture), Dubai, UNITED ARAB
EMIRATES
Some plants of different varieties were
given to the Center in 2001 in contribution
to their research on the salt tolerance of
Date Palm.
Al Uttoriah Farms, Ministry of
Agriculture, Doha, QATAR
Several hundreds of plants are planted in
the experimental farm for more than 7 years
now. The Ministry’s reports are all
assessing that the plants have produced
fruits 3 years after planting and that since
then the production is improving season
after season.
K.I.S.R (Kuwait Institute for
Scientific Research), KUWAIT
A small quantity of plants is planted in the
Institute since 1997 as part of the
cooperation we have with Dr. Abu Al Nil
Research manager of the institute. All are
showing excellent performance.
U.P.E (Union of Producers of Egypt),
Ministry of Agriculture, Cairo, EGYPT
The last information we have from the
Ministry says that all plants supplied in
1995 are fruiting yearly without any
problem.
